Spain: car manufacturers propose ten measures to help the sector

The national association of car and truck manufacturers (ANFAC) sent the head of the Spanish government, José Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, a series of proposals - some of which concerning the employment field - to help the sector face the difficulties it is going through. Mr. Zapatero committed to include some of them in the future Full Car Plan which his Minister for Industry will present in January. (Ref. 080941)

The impact of the crisis in Spain. Meeting with Mr. Zapatero, the leader of the ANFAC, Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz expressed the concerns of the sector and asked for the government’s active support. This meeting comes at a time when manufacturers established in Spain are about to compete 2008 with a 10% decrease in production – i.e. 300.000 fewer vehicles – as a direct consequence of the dropping car sales in Europe.
