Spain's government and the social partners want to find solutions to prevent early retirement and encourage people to stay in work for longer. The planned measures include support schemes to update the skills of older workers and partial retirement programmes.
The government and the social partners have announced their intention to work together to find measures to harness the work of the most experienced employees and to avoid involuntary early retirement. Exits negotiated as part of redundancy plans in large companies are not affected insofar as early retirement is voluntary. The latter give rise to attractive compensation packages and guarantee that contributions will be maintained.
