Spain: Iberia unions call for 6-day strike against social plan providing for 4,500 job cuts

Unions are joining forces for the strike.  All unions representing workers in the company (UGT, CCOO, USO, Asetma, Sitcpla and CTA-vuelo – which represents ground staff and flight attendants) called for the strike.  The SEPLA pilots’ union supports the movement but remains on the sidelines for legal reasons as it is waiting for an arbitration decision on a previous conflict having to do with the creation of the low-cost subsidiary, Iberia Express, in 2011.  Indeed, the pilots’ union was sued for loss of income following the 18 days of strike.
