Spain: in Valencia, Ford’s employees validate the new company agreement and the management’s social plan

A better agreement with no economic layoffs. The new text contains major improvements compared with the text rejected in April because unions were divided (see our dispatch No. 090695). The 600 future job cuts will be covered by voluntary leaves. Out of those 600, 400 may be re-employed within three years with the same seniority, professional category and type of labor contract. The text provides for the recruitment of a group of temporary workers. It is banking on 700 new employees with “relief contracts” to cover retirement or part-time retirement for 1,300 people by 2014. The management also promised to maintain the workload and the site’s industrial viability, notably thanks to the award of the new CMax model which will follow the production of the current Ford Focus, and the manufacturing of a new ecoboost injection engine.
