Spain: the government approved the 2007-2012 health and security at work strategy

The government approved on June 29 the 2007-2012 health and security at work strategy. It was born from a long negotiation which started in February 2005 between social partners, the Labour ministry and regions, on which lies the responsibility to check that the measures are enforced, through labour inspectorate. The Spanish strategy for security and health at work 2007-2012 (EESST) aims at establishing a general frame for risk prevention policies, in the long and in the short run, and to improve the coherence and rationality of interventions of all prevention actors, in order to fight against the million of accidents causing 1.000 deaths a year in Spain.
