The national CSR Council is launched. The tripartite structure, which should meet for the first time in November, is composed of 56 members. It equally involves public services, employers, unions and civil society structures (associations, NGOs, consultants, academics…) committed on this subject. Juan Jose Barrera, Director of the social economy branch of the Ministry of Labor and future President of the Council, and Carlos Sanchez, in charge of union action at the Workers' Commissions (CCOO) detailed, for Planet Labor, the duties of this Council which will both be an assessor and consultative body for the government and a forum for debate and observation of corporate practices. Juan Jose Barrera – the Council was born from the will of three different structures (a Parliamentary subcommittee, a forum of experts and a union commission) which, for almost 4 years, have been preparing the ground for CSR reflection in Spain.
