The UGT central union confederation has embarked upon its reorganization program by merging its currently operating federations with an end goal of leaving just three mega-federations covering industry, services, and the public sector.
This far-reaching overhaul of the UGT structure is in line with the confederation’s re-organization project that it established during its 42nd federal congress held in March 2016 (c.f. article No. 9549 and 9095). The project consists of establishing three large federations to replace the current six in a bid to tighten the union structure and concentrate its efforts at its grassroots by bolstering the role of delegates at company level.
