unions of the Santander bank opened talks which should lead to closing the 3,000 national agencies on Saturday, therefore allowing the group to save 17 million euro. Unions proposed this solution. Other Spanish banks are starting to look into similar plans. (Ref. 090828)

Belt-tightening programs within the bank allowed unions to bring back an old claim about Saturdays off. The proposal, under consideration since July, should be over within a few weeks and lead to the signature of an agreement
