Two Swedish trade union federations decided to merge to create, next year, the "Union" which, with over 500.000 members, will become the main Swedish trade union represented in the private sector. (Ref. 070749)
The leaders from the two federations SIF and HTF detailed the merger plan and presented the future entity’s new name (“Unionen” in Swedish), during a press conference on August 30 in Stockholm. The Union will be represented in 66.000 companies, from the largest such as Volvo, Ericsson and Ikea to small businesses – the majority.
