Such is the reaction of a large section of the Kommunal (Municipality employees) union’s membership, following revelations in the Aftonbladet daily publication over extravagant spending at the union as well as over its real estate rental policy. More than 10,000 members (out of a total of 500,000) have already said they are quitting the union. This scandal may also tarnish the image of probity and independence of Stefan Löfven’s government; himself a former IF Metall (Metals) union president, whose own Minister for Foreign Affairs has been called into question.
