The European Commission should make public, next March 22, its communication on corporate social responsability (CSR). This document takes a new direction if we compare it to the previous ones. In this communication, the Commission seems to give-up up the pluri-actors approach. The CSR appear to be, more than ever, the companies' business. (Ref. 06247)
The debate launched in 2001 when the Green Paper on CSR was published, lasted 4 years. In the meantime, the Commission adopted its first communication, set up CSR forum which gathered companies, NGO’s and Union representatives precisely because the CSR issue was handled as a complex and multistakeholders one. This forum delivered its final report at the end of 2004.
