The aim of this proposal is to modernise and simplify Community law on equal treatment between men and women as regards employment and occupation, in order to give greater clarity and legal certainty (see our article n°06537). In order to do this, the proposal gathers a number of existing Community provisions in one legal text. …The draft directive on equal treatment between men and women as regards employment and occupation is on the way to a final adoption
The European Parlement adopted, in second reading, the same text as adopted by the EU Council of ministers. This draft directive should then be adopted, with no difficulties, by a forthcoming Council. It does not introduce importante changes in the Community law when it comes to gender equality, but gathers, in a single text, the entire legislation on this matter. (Ref. 06569)
