The Euro MPs ask for the lifting of the free movement of Eastern countries workers restrictions

The Euro MPs adopted, last April 5, a report on Hungarian MP initiative, Mr. Ory, in which they ask Member States to open their labour markets to enlargement workers. This report comes before the deadline, which is April 30, for the “old” Member States to make up their decision whether they lift the freedom of movement of workers restrictions. (Ref. 06338)

In this report, the Euro MPs remind the positive impact of migrant workers from 8 countries of Eastern Europe, who contributed to the growth of the Member States which have not imposed labour restrictions (Great Britain, Ireland and Sweden). The MPs stressed that freedom of movement of workers is one of the fundamental rights guaranteed by the EU Treaty. The report warns states which wish to prorogue the transitional period that this refusal to allow legal entry to Eastern countries workers...
