On March 28, in Tunis, the 3rd international conference on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) took place on the following theme: “Public-private partnerships” (PPP), the vectors to develop CSR.” Organized by the CONECT employers’ organization, this event was the occasion to officially launch a CSR label in Tunisia. The objective is to raise businesses’ awareness to CSR principles and, in the long run, encourage requests for certification.
CSR isn’t a new concept in Tunisia. In November 2012, the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) published a report on CSR in Tunisia, pointing out, “by adopting the right international conventions, Tunisia as a result adjusted its social and environmental legislation, which is a suitable framework to implement CSR.” Armed with this strong foundation, CONECT launched, the same year, a thinking cycle – and the CSR label is the great finale.
