Unilever testing the four-day week in Argentina and Australia

After having adopted the shorter working week in New Zealand, following an 18-month trial period, UK consumer good multinational Unilever (Dove, Knorr, Cif...), has announced the launch of a similar but larger-scale project in Argentina and Australia. About 1,700 additional employees will be able to experience the four-day working week.

From 14 November, roughly 500 Australian employees will be involved in this one-year project. These volunteer employees will work at 80%, while maintaining 100% output, and will receive 100% of their previous salary. To free up time, there will be fewer meetings held and they will be made more efficient, the number of emails will be reduced, and employees will frequently use MS Teams. “Through this trial, Unilever hopes to improve employee well-being as well as the health of the company,” noted
