Online UK lender Landbay has this week announced the introduction of a paid leave allowance of up to six weeks for employees that suffer a miscarriage. The period of leave is the longest of its kind in the country. Partners of women who lose a baby during pregnancy may also be eligible for a special leave allowance under the policy.
The leave allowance for Landbay employees in the event of a miscarriage can last up to six weeks, which the lender describes as a first in the UK. Until now, other companies have introduced shorter leave periods for employees who lose their baby during pregnancy: at least two weeks for the TV network Channel 4 (see article n°12492), 10 days for the online bank Monzo (see article n°12521), or three days for Lidl in neighbouring Ireland (see article n°12560).
