The GMB union failed to secure a sufficient number of votes to officially represent staff at Amazon’s Coventry warehouses, which would have forced the American online retail giant to negotiate with it on working conditions, pay, holidays and other benefits. Of the 2,600 employees at the site, just under the required majority (49.5%) voted in favour of union recognition.
