Last week the state of California became known in the U.S for adopting a law on sick leave pay that will come into effect in July 2015. The law requires employers in the state to give workers paid sick leave In a country where almost half the workers do not benefit from paid sick leave, the Golden State is only second in the U.S. to approve paid sick leave and only about half a dozen cities have adopted similar measures. Employee representatives hope the Californian legislation will encourage its equivalent at the federal level.
