Caterpillar, the American giant, and the leaders of the IAM union have just signed a 6-year pay deal which is going to leave the union a bitter aftertaste. This agreement covers 780 workers at the company’s hydraulics plant in Joliet, Illinois. Accepting almost all the concessions the employer demanded, it puts an end to a strike which started in May and lasted nearly 4 months.
