In the State of New York, hospitality unions together with real estate and tourism businesses are joining forces to lobby for an anti-Airbnb law. Two lobbying camps are behind a proposal for a bi-partisan law prohibiting apartment sub-letting for periods of less than thirty days within the State of New York.
Republican Senator Andrew Lanza along with Democrat House Representative Linda Rosenthal are mounting an offensive against online Airbnb advertising. “Every day I hear New Yorkers say they are fed up with their buildings turning into covert hotels, due to Airbnb,” explained Linda Rosenthal, who continues saying “many apartments are being let out to tourists and not to regular tenants.”
