The Fawaz Abdulaziz Al-Hokair Saudi Group will buy 10% of the Simit Sarayi bakery chain from Turkey (bagels and pastries). This represents 408 stores to December 2017. Abdul Majeed Alhokair will becomea member of Simit’s Board. For three years, Al Hokair has been the master-franchisor of Simit Sarayi and rolled out 50 units in the Gulf (notably at Dubai’s City Walk), 50% of the goal of 100 in three years. The unit in Mecca opened in 2012 and is the most profitable foreign unit.
