According to Tendencias Consultoria, Brazil’s domestic sales should make a positive contribution to the economy this year. After a 3.6% drop in 2016, G.D.P should grow by about 0.5% this year. The I.M.F. expects G.D.P. to grow by 0.2% in 2017. Last year, household spending dropped by 4.2% while investment plunged by 10.2% as debt-heavy households and firms delayed spending amid rising unemployment and high interest rates.
