As Costco confirmed the opening of a first Chinese store in Shanghai in 2019 after a pilot on Tmall from 2014, the German discount retailer Aldi also selected Alibaba’s platform to make inroads into China. In late April 2017, Aldi announced the opening of an online store on the Tmall Global website, controlled by Alibaba Group. In China, Aldi is selling 100 high-demand grocery products, such as Australian wine at €20/ bottle, chocolate tablets at €5.30, or snacks and organic products....
