Following a rejection by the Council of State last June, the National Assembly voted on February 17, 2026 to authorise algorithmic surveillance in retail stores. As the text is due to pass to the Senate following the municipal elections, mind Retail questioned Thibault David, Co-Founder of Veesion.
On February 16, 2026, the French National Assembly adopted (60 votes to 13) a legal framework authorising the use of video surveillance in stores until 2027, in order to combat theft.
