During the first quarter ending in late March 2018, Gucci’s sales jumped by 49% to €1.8 billion. The luxury label, nicknamed the “backbone” of the group by François-Henri Pinault, contributed 58% of the revenue to parent company Kering, which is now focusing on the luxury sector. The firm recently closed operations for the three brands of Puma and Volcom (sporting goods) and Stella McCartney (fashion).
