India is seeing a growth in the popularity of sneakers and a rise in the subculture of sneakerheads. This movement started in the U.S.A, promoted by hip-hop culture, basketball icons like Michael Jordan and skateboarding. The subculture is gaining grounds in India and street culture is giving the trend a significant boost, leading to the first sneaker festival in February. The streetwear curator and culture consultancy, Capsul Collective, organised a pop-up focusing on sneakers and streetwear.
