In the U.S.A., the No. 2 food company Kroger announced the purchase of competitor Albertsons on 14th October 2022. This major transaction, worth US$24.6 billion (including debt of US$4.7 billion), is subject to regulatory review by Federal antitrust authorities. This could last until Q1 2024, given the size of the deal and the planned sessions for the overlapping stores (JP Morgan estimates around 400, notably in California, Texas, Washington D.C.)
