South African retail sales for June 2018 grew by 2.9% year-on-year, excluding the effects of inflation, showing the rate of growth has fallen for the third month. The total retail sales growth, including effects of inflation, grew by 5.8% year-on-year. Clothing outperformed other segments in June, with sales excluding the effects of inflation and rising by 4.4% year-on-year. An overall June sales rate of 8.4% is above average for this time of year.
