U.S. retailers face a war for talent

In the U.S.A., C.E.O.’s salaries at large grocers were an average of US$1.5 million last year, down 14% from 2012. Chief executives at the 10 largest grocers in the U.S. received US$6,6 million in bonuses in 2016, a fall of 40% from 2015.In June 2017, three executives from grocery retailers stepped down, including Bruce Besanko, C.F.O. of Supervalu, to tap new opportunities outside their companies.
