Air France: agreement on wage moderation and guarantee of employment in Spain

The regional delegation of Air France for Spain - Portugal, and workers' representatives of the committee for working conditions and working time, reached an agreement, on April 21st, 2006, allowing the delegation to improve its competitiveness over three years and to reduce the wage differences between the Air France staff and that of KLM in Spain. This is linked to the merger with KLM. (Ref. 06993)

The text (” Convenio “) provides for wage moderation and an increase of working time from 35 hours to 37.5 hours a week. All these measures will enable to reduce the unit costs by 15 % over three years. In compensation for these efforts approved by the personnel, the company has given guarantees in terms of jobs:

  • From 2006 and until the end of 2009, no forced dismissal will take place. In other words, all workers have their job guaranteed for a period of four years.
