On October 28, 2009, the shipbuilding company Aker ASA (27.100 employees) signed an international framework agreement with the International Metalworkers' Federation (IMF) and its Norwegian affiliate, Fellesforbundet, for the development of good industrial relations in companies belonging to the Aker company. With this agreement,
Aker commits to “respect basic human and trade union rights in the community,
acknowledging the fundamental principles of human rights as defined in the Universal
