On Wednesday 15 March, and following several months of negotiations, Argentine President Mauricio Macri presented the primary goals of what has been a much-anticipated agreement for the sector that has been periodically hit with partial layoffs. This agreement will be monitored by a sector relevant working group.
The press statement indicated that the agreement would be working towards expected production levels of one million vehicles per year by 2023 (with the 2019 target set at 750,000 vehicles), 30,000 jobs in terms of direct employment and 150,000 in indirect employment.
