The increase set in March intends for wages to rise by 11% for the three months between April and June. With joint negotiations already in full swing in Argentina, in mid-March Smata, the automobile union (sindicato de mecanicos y afines del transporte), struck an agreement for the new April-June quarterly tranche. Negotiating for short-term agreement periods is a pioneering move in a country where more agreements are being struck over the course of one year or even two, but which could inspire others to do the same given the backdrop of inflation and the new government.
