After a month of negotiations, deadlocks, mediation by the labour ministry and go-slows, the decision was made to go back to an initial agreement on wage raises in the banking sector. The terms defined by the Asociación Bancaria, the union of banking workers, in collaboration with two professional chambers will apply to all banks in Argentina. The agreement will also apply to foreign banks represented by the Asociación de Bancos de la Argentina (ABA), which had previously rejected a portion of the deal.
The agreement that has been reached features an end-of-year bonus – paid at the end of December – of 8,000 pesos (480 euros) for monthly salaries of up to 25,000 pesos (1,500 euros). For workers paid between 25,000 and 35,000 pesos (2,100 euros), the bonus will amount to 10,000 pesos (600 euros).
