A decree published on 21 May by the Argentine government classifies a range activities as essential. As a result, they will have to provide a 75% minimum service in the event of a strike. The CGT has announced that it will appeal against the decree.
The Argentine government headed up by libertarian president Javier Milei, in power since December 2023, has placed a significant restriction on the right to strike through the publication of a decree on Wednesday 21 May. According to the text, many sectors are considered “essential”, requiring them to guarantee a minimum of 75% of their services.
