During the week of 21 November Argentina’s government announced that the employers’ associations and unions had signed an agreement, the goal of which is to stave off redundancies against a tense social backdrop and inflationary pressures.
Without the signatory parties being present, Jorge Triaca, Minister for Labor stated to the press, “We have agreed to maintain employment until March 2017 via new jobs. “Productivity is something we all have to fight for together, not against each other. “We have to see if the agreements (Ed. Note, company and sector) are holding this back,” added Mario Quintana, secretary for Public Policy Coordination.
