The government has decided to increase the minimum wage by 15.53%, after the National Wage Council, which brings together the government and social partners, failed to reach an agreement. The meeting failed after the unions rejected the employers’ proposal to increase the minimum wage by 8% in May and 5% in June. The agreed increase will be applied in two stages: the minimum wage will rise (retroactively) from 202,800 pesos (€210) to 221,052 pesos (€229) a month from April, then to 234,315...
