Argentina’s joint banking sector negotiations have hit their first snag. Following weeks of efficient negotiations, which have confirmed the short-term wage rise model, (c.f. article No. 9545 and No. 9577), the banking sector called for a national strike on Thursday 14 April to protest the halt in negotiations.
In a statement calling for strike action across the country, the union is calling for ‘the wage increase this it deserves’, where the annual 35% pay rise demanded (according to expert press sources) was rejected by government which via the representative bodies for which the government also stands as employer, was putting forward a rise of less than 30%. “It’s a lack of respect, we should have received an offer since January yet nothing has been proposed,” complained Sergio Palazzo,...
