Argentina: president Javier Milei’s labour reform temporarily suspended
On 20 December, Argentina's new ultraliberal president Javier Milei presented a decree of necessity and urgency entailing sweeping deregulation of the economy. The decree includes a radical reform of labour law, which the country's labour appeals chamber put a stop to on Wednesday 3 January with a precautionary measure. In its view, there was no urgency to justify the publication of a decree on labour law.
