The Fair Work Commission, Australia’s independent wage-setting body, announced this morning a 3.75% increase in the minimum wage from 1 July. It will rise from $23.23 to $24.10 an hour (€14.23 to €14.76), and from $882.80 to $915.91 a week (€540.97 to €561.26) based on a 38-hour full-time working week. “We consider that this increase is consistent with the expected return of the inflation rate to below 3% in 2025,” said the commission.
