The conference with the chairmen of the works councils of the Austrian chemical industry, which took place in Vienna on June 3, agreed to the wage agreement which union and employers' negotiators presented on May 30, 2008. The basic wage level for the 42.000 employees of the Austrian chemical industry will retroactively increase of 3.9% on May 1, 2008. (Ref. 080461)
On May 30, after four long negotiation sessions, the chemistry social partners – the chemistry blue-collar workers’ union (GdC), the chemistry white-collar workers’ union (GPA) and the association of the Austrian Chemical Industry (FCIO) – finally came to an agreement on wages.
