The "economics and employment" chapter of the "government program" signed on January 10th 2007 by the social-democrats (SPÖ) and the conservatives (ÖVP) is an ÖVP trademark and reinforces the provisions facilitating the labour market flexibility. (Ref.070022)

After weeks of tight negotiations, the new Austrian government, led since January 11th by Chancellor Alfred Gusenbauer (SPÖ) proposes a program highly inspired by ÖVP claims. Among the measures concerning employment, the general tendency is to extend working hours and make it more flexible.
