On March 17, the electro and electronics industry social partners agreed to a 2% wage rise for the 50,000 employees in the sector. At the same time the Pro-GE union (industry) and the DPA-dip (private sector employees) negotiated with the sector’s employers’ body the FEEI a series of different elements and especially an option to convert the wage rise into a ‘free-time’ allocation. Three other options were also negotiated for both employees and management. The principle of the ‘free-time’ option is now established in future agreements because it will be maintained until 2025 whilst last week’s agreement itself will run for one year from May 01 2015.
On March 17, the first major collective agreement for the Austrian electro industry was concluded after only two meetings. The sector’s social partners agreed to a one year 2% rise in wages for all levels on the salary scale that will take effect from May 01 2015. 50,000 employees will benefits from the effects including apprentices and trainees.
