To facilitate monitoring of compliance with the requirement to favour working from home, as part of measures in Belgium to address the health emergency, the country’s national social security office (ONSS) is launching a portal where employers will henceforth be obliged to declare the number of employees per day that have to remain on site. At the beginning of each month, every company will have to enter details on – and provide justification for – workers who are on site as the nature of their role, or the need to ensure the continuity of services and activities, means they cannot work remotely.
In concrete terms, for the April 2021 declaration companies can access the form to be filled in on their dedicated space on the ONSS website from today, Monday 29 March, until 6 April. Justifications that can be provided include the need for a worker to travel to their workplace up to once a week for their well-being. “Flexibility will be offered to allow some workers suffering from this situation to go to into work one day a week.
