Belgium: draft legislation on adequate minimum wages approved

On 17 May, the Council of Ministers approved a draft bill on adequate minimum wages. This text, put forward by Belgian labour minister Pierre-Yves Dermagne, partially transposes the European directive. Its aim is to guarantee “appropriate minimum wages” and thus help to reduce pay inequalities. The transposition should also encourage collective bargaining on wage setting in the private sector.
