Belgium: easing of the regulation concerning entry and residence for international researchers and executives

A Royal Decree passed on September 12, 2007 specifies the entry and residence conditions for foreign workers, especially researchers and executives. The purpose of this text, which transposes the directive 2005/71 on a specific procedure for admitting third-country nationals for the purposes of scientific research (OJEU, November 3, 2005), is to make immigration and employment formalities easier for these categories of people. The text, published in the Moniteur Belge on September 28, 2007, lists the new categories of workers which can be exempt from a work permit. In addition to researchers, who will be more easily welcomed than they used to, there are:
