Belgium: employers must offer reclassification to employees of 45 and more

The labour collective agreement No. 82 bis of July 11, 2007 concerning reclassification is going to be effective from December 1, after a royal decree published in the Moniteur Belge on November 21, 2007. Employers will have to offer a reclassification procedure to employees of 45 years of age and more when they are fired. (Ref. 070974)

The collective agreement which will come into effect on December 1, 2007 amends the labour collective agreement (CCT) No. 82 signed in 2002, in order to take into account the legal and regulatory provisions resulting from the pact of inter-generational solidarity and from the interprofessional agreement for 2007-2008 (see our article No. 070651, with the CCT attached).
