Belgium: judiciarization of social conflicts at Carrefour

of Mons rendered, on March 25, an ordinance giving satisfaction to Carrefour’s employees, who exercised their right to strike in October 2008. Unions contested the management’s unilateral request to ban picket lines in front of the stores. Within a few weeks, several courts dealing with the same conflict which, as it happens, was national, rendered different rulings on the exercise of the right to strike. (Ref. 090357)
