In accordance with Pact on solidarity between generations and the interprofessional agreement signed on December 21, 2006 (see our stories n°061296 and 070055), the time credit system, which temporarily enables an employed worker to totally or partially break off his/her professional career while receiving benefits, will be changed from June 1, 2007. The main changes brought to the lifelong time-off bank system are the following :
- The full time “career interruption ” benefit is limited to one year with no particular reason. Afterwards, lifelong time off banks can be extended till 48 months, on the condition to refer to a reason planned by the new dispositions, such as the fact to take care of a child under 8, to provide palliative care to someone or to use this time-credit before early retirement (pre-pension) or full retirement.
