Belgium: starting on January 1, 2013, businesses will have to implement a plan on senior employment

This obligation came with Labor Collective Agreement No. 104 negotiated on June 27 by the National Labor Council, the central social dialogue structure in Belgium, imposing the introduction of a senior employment program for workers over 45. this affects businesses employing over 20 people full time, including agency workers. Goals. This employment plan aims to maintain or increase the number of senior workers. With 38.7 percent in 2011, Belgium had one of the lowest employment rate in Europe for people aged 55-64. the collective agreement provides that the plan should define objectives to achieve, fields of action, concrete measures, the jobs and positions concerned, and appoint a representative for its implementation.
